Talks
There are things we live with every day - our thoughts, our fears, our choices, our relationships, our bodies, our consciousness, the questions we ask about ourselves and about life and yet we rarely stop to really explore them.
I believe that the way we understand things also shapes the way we experience them.
Understanding a little more about how our brains work can change the way we see ourselves. Understanding where human behavior comes from can make us look at other people differently. And sometimes, a single idea we’ve never considered before can shift something in the way we see life.
The talks are about things worth knowing, questions worth thinking about, and connections we don’t always get the chance to make — so we can understand ourselves, each other, and this universe we live in a little better, and maybe get a little better at living in it too.
Who are the talks for?
Curious people
The talks are for curious people. People who love learning, understanding how things work, discovering new ideas, and finding out a little more about themselves, other people, and the world we live in.
If you enjoy understanding what lies behind the things we experience every day, coming across a question you’ve never thought about before, or simply spending an hour exploring something that fascinates you and leaving knowing — and thinking — a little more, you’ll probably find something here for you.
The topics change from one talk to another, and each talk stands on its own. The content might take us into science, psychology, philosophy, nature, or wherever else the subject leads, and it is always made accessible and clear, even if you’re encountering the topic for the first time.
Open talks and events take place throughout the year. To hear about upcoming talks and new things happening at the Cosminiversity, you can join the quiet updates group.
Organizations, institutions & groups
The talks are a good fit for places that want to give their people something with depth — something that teaches them something new, sparks curiosity, and gives them something to think about long after the talk is over.
The topics we explore are about people and the lives we live, which means that much of what we take from them is relevant both within the setting we’re in and to life outside of it.
Organizations, companies & teams
For enrichment and learning days, company events, team gatherings, conferences, and organizational programs. Topics such as decision-making, change and uncertainty, stress, thought patterns, communication, and human behavior can offer new perspectives on the way we work and function together — while being just as relevant to the lives we go home to.
Schools & educational institutions
For students and educators who want to take learning beyond the usual curriculum, encounter ideas from different fields, and encourage curiosity, questions, and thought. Topics can connect with subjects already being studied or simply open a window into an entirely new world.
Communities, nonprofits & events
For talks, community gatherings, enrichment programs, conferences, and events. You can choose a talk that connects with the interests of your audience, or bring in something completely new — something that opens up a conversation, sparks thought, and offers another way of looking at things.
You can choose a talk from the existing catalog, and when relevant, the content and emphasis can also be adapted to the audience and the nature of the event.
What do we talk about?
The brain, consciousness, human behavior, emotions, choices, relationships, evolution, philosophy, life itself — and plenty of other things worth understanding a little more deeply.
Each talk focuses on a different question, phenomenon, or idea, and the catalog keeps evolving alongside the things I’m researching, learning, and thinking about.
You can find the talks currently available in the catalog.
How does it work?
The talks can be booked in a variety of formats and adapted to the audience, setting, and nature of the event.
In person or online
Talks can take place at your venue, at the event location, or online, depending on what works best for the audience and the event.
Talk length
The length of each talk varies depending on the topic and format and can be adapted to fit the event schedule. Time for questions and conversation can also be included at the end.
Adapting to your audience
You can choose a talk from the catalog as it is, or, when relevant, adapt the emphasis, examples, and level of depth to a particular audience — whether that’s a team within an organization, school students, university students, or a community centered around a particular field or interest.
Custom topics
Is there a particular topic you’d like to explore? Almost any subject can be approached through the perspectives of ZECOSMI, which means the possibilities go far beyond what currently appears in the catalog.
If there’s something you’re interested in, get in touch and we can think together about how to turn it into a talk that fits your audience and what you want the event to achieve.
Booking
If you’ve found a talk that feels right, or you’re still not sure what would work best for your audience, send me a few details about the event, the people attending, and what you’re looking for, and we’ll figure out what could work.
A little about me
I’m Gal Reinharts, and I study life.
I studied biology and I’m currently studying psychology, but I’ve never been particularly interested in staying within the boundaries of a single field. I’m interested in humans — as brains, as bodies, as animals, as conscious beings, as social creatures, and as people trying to figure out what the hell we’re doing here. And I’m interested in life itself: nature, animals, evolution, philosophy, meaning, physics, the universe.
I want to understand the bigger picture. How these things connect to one another, what one field can teach us about another, and what all of this knowledge ultimately means for the lives we’re actually living.
And I don’t just want to know things. I want to do something with them.
To think about them, talk about them, create from them, and see what happens when all that knowledge makes its way back into life itself.
ZECOSMI is where I do all of that.
